Hardsoul Pressings was founded by brothers Roog and Greg van Bueren as a platform to showcase their musical creativity. With the strength of the Hardsoul brand growing and growing, the boys decided on their own label that would give them complete creative control on its output.

The label was initally born in 2000, while the brothers were still signed to Dutch label United. They had two releases that year; Hardsoul feat. Rose – 'All Night Long' and Hardsoul feat. The Soulhustlers – 'Never Gonna Stop'. Unfortunately the world wasn’t ready for soulful house from Holland at the time and the brothers were forced to put the label on hold and hole up in the studio. How things have changed!

Hardsoul was firmly established as a solid production team in the international house scene in 2004. When Brian Tappert of Soulfuric Distribution asked the boys if they were interested in doing a label under their umbrella, everything came together. Consequently, the label was relaunched and the rest is history!

Hardsoul Pressing concentrates primarily on vinyl releases and CD compilations. DJ Roog presents Hardsoul; The Sound of Love and Dedication Part 2 was the very first compilation release. The album was Holland's highest selling house compilation of 2004.

Read on for the lowdown on the output since that debut compilation.

Hardsoul feat. New Cool Collective ‘Bounson’
In 2005 the boys teamed up again with jazz New Cool Collective group to produce ‘Bounson’ This release is spawned by the collaboration of Hardsoul and top Dutch act New Cool Collective. The act, who have been together for ten years, are currently some of the coolest and diverse musicians on the Dutch music scene, sometimes performing with a 19-piece band! Their music can be described as a fresh and exciting mix of highly danceable soul and jazz, spiced with Latin flavours. The release was a musical match made in heaven, complimenting the dance-floor qualities of Hardsoul. ‘Bounson’ was snapped for many comps the world over including DJ Pippi & Jamie Lewis In The Mix 2005, Testament of House Vol 3 on Ministry of Sound mixed by knee deep and Hed Kandi’s top’selling Beach House comp.

Hardsoul feat. Amma ‘Don’t Let Love Weigh You Down’.
Following ‘Bounson’ came another collaboration, this time with vocalist Amma on Hardsoul & Amma’s ‘Don’t Let Love Weigh You Down’. It is an exquisite vocal tune in full on Hardsoul style; emotional lyrics, driving bassline, tight beats and topped with live strings. The track features the seductive vocals of singer, who has enjoyed a string of quality outings on the Inspirit Music label, delivering undoubted depth and control in her performances. Uniquely, Amma is diverse, adapting to soul, downtempo or house styles with ease. It’s a perfect match for the Hardsoul brothers. The package comes with remixes by Shik Stylko and Roog & Greg themselves, and serves to further confirm Roog and Greg’s production capabilities. ‘Don’t Let Love Weigh You Down’ appeared on a plethora of comps globally including My Boyfriend’s Out Of Town by Brian Tappert, Purple music, Penthouse Ibiza, One Way Records / Globe; Cisco Stevier Compact Vinyl Vol.3 (Cisco International Corp) and Soul Heaven pres. It was heavily licensed to territories as far flung as Japan and GAS for compilations and sold well as a single.
